In Hawaiian wisdom, there is a well known story about the bowl of light. As the story goes, each person is born with their own bowl of light. As we travel along our path, we sometimes pick up stones that go into the bowl. Our bowl can become full of stones. However, at any time we can turn the bowl upside down to dump the stones out. The bowl once again appears full of light. It is important to know that the light never leaves the bowl, it only becomes obscured from view by the stones.
I love that story. I’m learning to regularly clear the stones from my bowl as I travel along my path. Bowl doesn’t get too heavy that way.
